Blog 8: English Language Challenges

Imagen
Hello everyone, Today is the last blog post and I'm going to talk about my experience of learning English at university. Well, this is the first course I took in English and besides was in zoom, I think that despite the difficulties that arose due to the national context, it was a good course and a good experience. I liked learning English through audio and readings interesting, many of which I met for the first time in this class. It was also the first time that I blogged in my life and it was fun learning to do it and get to know you through blogs. I think the main thing that I need to improve is speaking in English and the pronunciation. It is difficult for me because I get nervous when I must talk to someone, I lack confidence. I think this can be improved by practicing more, sometimes I talked to myself to practice xD. In my daily life I use English regularly, especially when reading, which I think I am better at. By my career many papers are read in English, this ha...

Blog 7: Music

Imagen
Hello everyone, today I will talk about music. I don't really have a favorite style or artist, I´m not listening to a lot of music and I´m even always lost of any song that is the song or artist of the moment and when I learn the song and nobody listens to it ☹ . If I have to choose a favorite group, it would be Queen because it is the group that I listen to the most and it would be the one that I would like to go see at a concert. I like the lyrics and the sound of their songs, my favorite is Bohemian Rhapsody, the tones of voices and as the rhythm changes, I love it, I always sing it!! As for singers, I like pop artists such as Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa. I like to listen to this type of music when I must write works, they help me to concentrate better. I would love to go to a concert by any of them. Bruno Mars came to Chile, but I had no money to go to the concert, I hope to be able to go next time. Also, I like reggeton, especially for dancing and when I´m working in...

Blog 6: Postgraduate Studies

Imagen
Hi everyone! today I´m going to talk about the postgraduate study that I had wanted to study a few years ago. I graduated in 2015 from Physical Anthropology at the Universidad de Concepción and I considered doing a master's degree to specialize, since unfortunately in Chile an undergraduate education is not enough. The country that I had chosen was England, since I wanted, in addition to studying, to know new countries. Within this country the universities of Durham and College London were the ones that most caught my attention with their teaching programs. Both have a face-to-face system and I prefer a full-time study mode that lasts 1 year, over a part-time mode that lasts 2 years.   Due to the high values of the tuition fee and cost of living in that country, no matter what, I would have to apply for Becas Chile, since by myself I could not pay it. In relation to the subject of magister that I would have liked to study is Archeology. This is a Masters of Arts and has cours...

Blog 5: My future job

Imagen
Hi everyone! Today I am going to talk about my future dream job. When I think about my future job this is outdoors since I never wanted to work in the office and do something monotonous. That's why I always wanted to study archeology, even though I first studied physical anthropology, so my future work is related to both. I would love to work on the excavation of a prehistoric site such as El Olivar (La Serena). This is a site where more than 200 human remains were found associated with Molle, Animas, Diaguita and Diaguita-Inca cultures. These remains were found with various offerings like pottery, metals, lithics and even camelids. Although I have worked in other excavations and even a cemetery, they were not of this magnitude and with that level of conservation. As for the salary, I hope to earn enough to live well, but even I would be a volunteer, just to have the experience of working in a place like that. In addition to working at a site such as El Olivar, I hope to be...
